CJ withdraws Pinto da Costa suspension

The Council of Justice (CJ) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has again raised a punishment overturned by the disciplinary committee (DC) of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP), to FC Porto.

After the hyped case of Hulk and Sapunaru, the FPF's CJ withdrew the punishment to Pinto da Costa, after LPFP's DC having suspended the FC Porto's chairman for three months, for allegedly having breached a previous punishment.

At issue are the statements about the appointment of referee Duarte Gomes for the game FC Porto-Sporting, the Braga performance fighting for the national title, and the game with Olhanense in the inauguration of Infesta.

However the punishment was applied to the president of FcPorto-SAD, that while being the same person, the defense argued that he was to testify as chairman of FC Porto, something that was not enough for the LPFP's CD to suspended Pinto da Costa for over three months, after the earlier punishment of two years, due to the case "Final Whistle".

Only this time the CJ of the FPF decided to withdraw the suspension to Pinto da Costa, in a further demonstration of a different interpretation of the facts, between the FPF and LPFP.
