Benfica appeals of punishment for Javi García

Benfica could suspend a punishment until the final decision of the Municipality of discipline. At issue is the agression on Valdomiro in Benfica-Vit. Guimaraes past Saturday.

Benfica will appeal the administrative proceedings summary, initiated by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Portuguese League for Professional Football (LPFP) on Javi García and wich was to suspending Spanish midfielder for two games.

The announcement of Benfica appeared this afternoon in a statement, well within the deadlines seted by th body chaired by Ricardo Costa - 48 hours - to any notice of appeal, of the complainants.

Concerned for the DC of LPFP, is the aggression to Valdomiro by Javi Garcia on Saturday, starting the 17th MatchDay of Sagres League between Benfica and Vit. Guimaraes, in a move that the Spanish puts "the physical integrity and health of the opponent athlete in danger, showing intent in this practice."

With the appeal, Benfica can suspend the sentence of two-match ban until the DC announce the final decision, but the sentence can be aggravated for an appeal against the initially assigned punishment.
