Benfica won on Saturday a difficult victory over Belenenses, winning by 1-0 at the Stadium of Light in game counting towards the 19th Matchday of Portuguese league.
A goal from Cardozo after just 10' was enough for the "reds" to get three points and increase, even temporarily, the distance to ScBraga, who plays this Sunday with the Maritimo.
Despite being the league's bottom club, Belenenses, proved to be a difficult team to beat, and even had several opportunities to score but was the team led by Jorge Jesus who made the score run through the Paraguayan forward, to achieve a head-cross of Ramires. It was Cardozo's 17th goal in the Portuguese league, remaining as top scorer of the championship.
The aspirations of Belenenses in scoring in Light Stadium were further reduced with the expulsion of goalkeeper Bruno Vale, on 78'm, who saved a shot from Cardozo with his hands, outside the area.
