Benfica plays with Liverpool in the quarter-finals of League Europe

Benfica, the Portuguese surviver in European Football Championships, already knows the opposing team in the quarter-finals of League Europe - are England's Liverpool.
The draw was held today, Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.

Two English teams (Liverpool and Fulham), two German (Hamburg and VfL Wolfsburg), two Spaniards (Valencia and Atletico Madrid), and a Belgian (Standard Liege) were the possible opponents of the Portuguese team.

Yesterday, Thursday, Benfica qualified for the quarterfinals, after beating off Marseille 1-2 with goals from Uruguayan Maxi Pereira, 75 minutes, and the Brazilian Alan Kardec, at 90', in response to inaugural try of Senegalese Mamadou Niang, at 70'.

The final is scheduled for the stadium AOL Arena, in Hamburg on 12 May.

Last time Liverpool played against Benfica was in the Champions League, in 2005/2006, and Benfica won both hands, 1-0 in the Light (Luisão goal) and 0-2 at Anfield Road (goals from Simao and Miccoli).

Of eight matches played between "reds" and "embodieds", includes five victories for the English and three for the Portuguese.

In the eights-finals round of Europe League, Liverpool pipped to Lille in the second leg, 3-0, after losing in France 1-0.
