Carlos Queiroz prepares World Cup

Still have more than two and half months for Portugal to make his debut in the World Cup 2010, the Portuguese team's work program has already been mapped in detail (and was released yesterday).
In all, 40 trainings includes three friendly matches (Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mozambique) and three days off, up to date with the Ivory Coast (June 15).

"We're playing already our World Cup. We are in a very important stage, where every detail is key," admits coach Carlos Queiroz, speaking to the website of the Portuguese Football Federation.

Thus, the preparation of Portugal for the 2010 World Cup (group G, along with Brazil, North Korea and Ivory Coast) is already all figured out: begins with a pre-stage, in Covilha, with the group incomplete (13 to 17 May), remains near the Serra da Estrela (until June 1st), and flies to South Africa to ten days into the trial (5 June).

Carlos Queiroz (who announces his squad on May 11) explains why two distinct periods of preparation (pre-stage and final stage): "The preliminary stage is for the players ending championships on May 9, so that they keep the physical form, the other will only reach on 19th or 20th. "
And praises the location of stage: "Adaptation to altitude was what most concerned us and Covilhã is the perfect place."

In the mountain city, Portugal will play two friendlyes (Cape Verde, 24 May, and Cameroon, June 1) at Municipal Stadium.

On June 3rd, the selection backs to Lisbon and stays there the final days of preparation, before the trip to South Africa.

Already in Johannesburg (headquarters during the World Cup) selection has one last particular game (Mozambique, 8th June).
Then there will be an afternoon off (June 9) ... and another week of work and anxiety before the 2010 World Cup's debut.
