Eriksson will face Portugal

The former Benfica's coach and former coach of England and Mexico, was announced as head coach of Ivory Coast, Portugal's opponents in Group G of the World Cup 2010.

"Sven-Goran Eriksson is the new coach of Ivory Coast. Will lead the national team in the World Cup, with the aim of achieving an honorable participation," revealed Alex Souleymane Bamba, member of the Ivorian Federation of football.

Eriksson, 62, was appointed coach of the Ivory Coast, a month after the dismissal of Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodžić, following the elimination in the quarter finals of CAN2010, held in Angola.

Sven-Göran Eriksson will guide Drogba and his team mates in South Africa, that after talking with his friend Toni about this possibility.
"'For a couple a days, at dinner with him, had these hypotheses. And he said that the Portuguese team didn't live positive experiences, to be eliminated twice... I hope there is no twice without a third..."

Eriksson, who led England from 2001 to 2006, becoming the first foreign coach to take the job, resigned in February of Notts County manager functions, club of the English Fourth Division.

Portugal plays against the Ivory Coast on June 15.
