Six questions, 100 days before the World Cup

Carlos Queiroz has already chosen 17 for the World Cup.
Possible absence of Pepe is conditionning the coach's choices.

To one hundred days of start of World Cup in South Africa, which has the kick-off to 11th June, are still six doubts that Carlos Queiroz has in mind to write the batch of 23 players, going to head to that competition.

At the moment the Portuguese coach has 17 names chosen for the 2010' World Cup and 13 more in reserve, beeing that from this last batch will leave these six, that will complete the Portuguese team in South Africa.

Just yesterday, the Portuguese coach was suggesting that the group is almost complete: "If it now started the preparation for World Cup, would be here [Coimbra] the players to the final list, which would lacked to add five."
However, it is also true that at this moment there are three key players who are injured - Bosingwa, Deco and Pepe.

And the main doubt concerns the central defender from Real Madrid, who is recovering from a serious injury to his right knee.
Presumably, the Luso-Brazilian defender, hardly will be 100% able in June, although the FPF, and Carlos Queiroz, believe in his full recovery.

With Pepe recovered, the coach may choose to call another player to the offensive midfield or attack, as the Real Madrid's player is often used in defensive midfield, although his original position is on defense' center.
Thus, only with a definition as to Pepe's full recovery - or not - , is that Carlos Queiroz finally will draw up a list of 23.

Along with Pepe, Sporting's João Moutinho was one of the few, who were in every qualifying's game.
But now, according to information gathered, the kicker doesn't have a place, and the meeting today with China could be decisive for the miedfielder, whose latest views have no pleased to Carlos Queiroz.

The absence of Miguel Veloso of this call has caused some surprise, but everything indicates Queiroz will want to give more opportunities to so far untested players.
But the Pepe's recovery is also a fact that may close some doors to the lions' midfielder, once the coach uses essentially the player to the latch position, and in that case Pepe and Pedro Mendes are leaving in the lead.

The versatility of Veloso, both in midfield as in defense (central and left lateral), may however pend to his side, in the final choice.

Ruben Micael and Varela, both FC Porto, ( have no internationalizations for the main selection, although the striker beeing called to today's friendly with China,) and Fabio Coentrão, Benfica, are among the main figures of current Portuguese League .
Carlos Queiroz, however, should only take place for one on his list, and at this time, Benfica's player takes in advantage, he can do all the left running.

In attack, it's also depending upon Danny's( Zenit) physical conditions, who was standing about six months due injury.
There's a place open, and Queiroz likes the footballer who plays in Russia.

Barring some last-minute injury, Eduardo and Hilario are the two of three goalkeepers that Carlos Queiroz will take to the World Cup.
Rui Patricio and Quim still fighting for the last vacancy.

Benfica's goalkeeper is not called from the heavy defeat (6-2) against Brazil, in November 2008, while Sporting's holder lost out No 2 choice, in recent matches.

Certain is that Carlos Queiroz as all the other 31 pickers will have to send a list of 30 players to FIFA, by the end of May.
