Benfica vs Sporting: Victory leaves title at Benfica's mercy

Jorge Jesus saved Aimar again: the night was rainy, the opponent promised to fight and the coach didn't trusted much in the Argentine's quarterback physical structure.
But Benfica's enormous difficulties to play throughout the first half, despite overwhelming possession, convinced the coach to give him another chance. And everything was resolved, with effort, but also a lot of class.

Benfica was clearly in loss of physical and mental freshness, and Carlos Carvalhal siege amounted to Javi Garcia, as Pereira and Veloso's determination in the fight for the ball, was quick to intimidate the "reds" and take it well away from the Rui Patricio's area.

The Sporting offensive organization, and better link between Djaló-Liedson, the Lions managed tactically well for long periods of the first part.

The problem of the game (and show) was the almost total absence of instances of goal, spare in corners (6-7 in the first part) what was lacking in shots on goal.

The fews recorded by Benfica resulting from these set pieces, with a bit of excitement and controversy, only a shot by Carlos Martins, deflected on Carriço's hand and also a shot on the post of Cardozo, invalidated for (very slight) foull of Abel.
For its side, Sporting couldn't equip Liedson, who was rushing too inconsequential to trim a half away.

In the second-half Jesus didn't expect much as usual to move the team, trying to balance over the midfield and enhance solutions, and with Aimar the game has changed gradually.
Sporting began to retreat and the situations were repeated near Rui Patricio's goal, until the goal was justified.

Cardozo, already injured in a bid to Grimi, concluded (his ninth goal this season) the match best attack move, launched the right by Amorim Ruben and continued with a perfect assistance of Fabio Coentrão.

The goal shattered Sporting, who could no longer reach the opponents half-field, and a smart pass break of Ramires isolated Aimar for a second goal of great class, flanking the goalkeeper.
