Euro 2012: UEFA confirmed Portugal as head-of-series

UEFA confirmed on Friday that Portugal will be head-of-serie in the draw for Euro-2012 qualifying.

The National Team will, therefore, according to the ranking of teams, integrating Pot 1, along with Spain (holders), Germany, Holland, Italy, England, Croatia, France and Russia in the draw which is scheduled for this Sunday in Warsaw (Poland).

The draw will determine the composition of nine groups, six of which will have six teams and three with only five, of 51 National teams that will fight for fourteen remaining berths, for the final tournament to be held in Poland and Ukraine.

The games of the Euro 2012' groups stage will take place between September 2010 and October 2011.

Qualify for the finals of the nine winners of each group and the best 2nd placed(in this case are being counted matches with the first, third, fourth and fifth).
The other runners will competing for a Play-off that will determine the last four National teams, wich is from now scheduled for November 2011.

Pot 4: Slovenia, Latvia, Hungary, Lithuaniia, Belarus, Belgium, Wales, Macedonia and Cyprus.
Pot 5: Montenegro, Albania, Estonia, Georgia, Moldova,Iceland, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein.
Pot 6: Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Malta, Faroe Islands, Andorra and San Marino.
