Portuguese Liga is the fifth most indebted

The Portuguese League was the fifth most indebted from Europe, in the 2007/2008 season, with an amount of around 500 million euros losses.
This conclusion was drawn from a study conducted by UEFA, based on 732 European clubs.

The list puts the Premier League as the leader that most damage has, despite leading the list of recipes.
The same study shows too that 18 clubs playing in the Premier League are responsible for 56% of the debt, which represents a value of around four billion euros.

This report allows UEFA of having more arguments to impose rules of financial fair play.

The study examined the accounts of 732 clubs, and concluded that the total revenues reached 11.5 billion in the period 2007-08, 10.6 percent more than the previous season.

The clubs, however, spend more than they receive. The total costs were 12.1 billion euros, 11.1 percent more than in the 2006-07 season.
Forty-seven percent of the Europeans football clubs have suffered losses in 2008, wich reached 578 million losses, an increase related to the 515 million of previous season.
