UEFA - Portugal guaranteed six teams for 2011/2012
Portugal assured today the presence of six teams in the 2011/2012 edition of the European Football Championships, thanks to Sporting's triumph, and the elimination of three Dutch, and two Turkish teams.
After the meetings today, which turned the 16th round of League Europe, Portugal held the ninth place with 36,962 points, while Holland (10th with 36,546) and Turkey (11th with 34,350) were out of representatives.
While FC Porto, in the Champions League, and Benfica and Sporting in League Europe, still in evidence, the Netherlands lost at a stroke, Ajax, PSV and FC Twente, while Turkey attended the eliminations of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
