World Cup 2010: Portugal-Brazil has sold out

The Portugal-Brazil game of the first phase of World Cup in South Africa, scheduled for Durban, June 25, already has sold out, announced FIFA today.

According to the agency that oversees the world football, 11 of the 64 games of the finals (June 11 to July 11) have already sold out:
  • the game of final
  • of the semi-finals ,
  • two quarters finals
  • and other two of the eighths-finals .

To these should be further four of the first phase:
  • Portugal-Brazil
  • England-United States
  • England, Slovenia and
  • Italy-Paraguay.


This information is provided on the day before the start of the sale of more 400 thousand tickets for the Cup, which will be played in 10 stadiums, of nine South African cities.

This fourth and penultimate phase of ticket sales will last until April 7, if not solds out by that date.

So far were sold about two million tickets, though fans can only retain the sames in April, as intended in particular to avoid any problems of piracy and resale.

Besides South Africa, the People of the United States are the ones with largest number of purchased tickets, soon followed by supporters from England, Mexico, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Canada, France and Israel.

Portugal is in Group G of the finals, along with Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea.

The Portuguese national team debuts in the World Cup, 15th June before the Ivory Coast in Port Elizabet, returning to play the day 21st with North Korea, in Cape Town, ending the first phase with Brazil, the 25th in Durban.
