Iberian Application to the World Cup, return May 14th
The Iberian application of Portugal and Spain to organize the World Cup 2018 or 2022 will be the penultimate to be submited, in May 14th, announced today the FIFA.
Australia will be the first to file its dossier at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, followed by Britain, Holland/Belgium, Japan, Republic of Korea, Qatar, Russia, Portugal/Spain, and finally the United States.
Qatar and South Korea have chosen to apply only to organize the competition in 2022, while the rest are fighting for the organization in 2018 or 2022.
Mexico withdrew its application and, FIFA Executive Committee has excluded Indonesia on March 19th, by not counting the government requirements.
The world football governing body will announce in December the headquarters of the two championships.
