League Europe live: Benfica demands first semi-final after 16 years
Liverpool presents itself today in shades more red than usual, with hundreds of Benfica fans already passing by in the city streets, a little over six hours the start of the game soon (20:05, online here), on a visit to tourist sites.
What, here, is confounded almost exclusively with the Beatles, the famous four from Liverpool who revolutionized pop music in the 60s. "The Cavern", the famous bar that "launched" the group of John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, is the staging required point.
On the day that Benfica seeks his first passage to the semi-finals of an European football competition, in the last 16 years (Parma, 1994), are expected at Anfield Road, Liverpool's mythical stadium, 2400 Benfica fans.
Many flew in low-cost and have walked by through the city then, and most come only during the afternoon, on charter flights organized for the purpose.
Besides the Portuguese fans in the streets of Liverpool have also been seen many shirts of the local 'reds', with several doubles of 'Gerrard' and 'Torres'.
And Everton's fans, Liverpool's other club, will be allied to the Portuguese, screaming at Benfica where they intersect with Benfica fans.
