Liverpool draws in Birmingham before receiving Benfica

Liverpool gave up a tie on Sunday on the Birmingham's campus(1-1) in 33rd matchday game of the Premier League, before receiving Benfica to the second leg of League Europe's quarter finals.

A tie that left the team coached by Spaniard Rafa Benitez further from fourth place, the last that gives Champions League access, taking into account that Manchester City thrashed Burnley on Saturday, 6-1.

The "reds" are in Premier League sixth position to three points of Tottenham (ranked fifth, but with one game less) and four of Manchester City (fourth).

Regarding the game at stadium of Light in Lisbon, Rafa Benitez took Agger out- scored in Lisbon - and Mascherano; also Babel started on the bench.
Kirgyacos, Maxi Rodriguez and Benayoun were the news.

Without making a great game, the Reds still have had the major opportunities, the first one for the first time in the 36' min, when Maxi Rodriguez - who can't play in League Europe - shot to the bar.

The second half, the game began almost with the Liverpool's goal, with captain Gerrard, in a move followed a corner kick, to take an opponent of the way and shoting strong and crossed.

The Birmingham responded almost immediately, drewing at 56 minutes.

Benitez would change the team, first with the Torres' departure for the entry of Ngog, after with Benayoun giving way to Babel, and a little later, with Kuyt out for the entry of Aquilani.

Ngog was who managed the most to tinker with the team's offensive dynamic, creating more danger than Fernando Torres, but in three chances he had, most recently to 91 minutes, failed to beat goalkeeper Hart.
