2009/2010 Portuguese Champion is Benfica

After Fernando Cabrita, Mario Wilson and Toni, Benfica, who yesterday assured the conquest of his 32nd national championship, takes Jorge Jesus as the fourth Portuguese coach to win the title, and 18th coach of its history (63 technicians) to get it.
It's the achievement of a conviction expressed in the presentation ceremony, on 17th June last year, when Jesus, between Luis Filipe Vieira and Rui Costa, was adamant: "I didn't come for economic reasons. I want to be part of the club's history and win titles here."...
He promised the team would play twice and only failed by default, once the quality of play, often translated into trashes, was well above this limit. And also 'cause of that, quickly received the fans massive support - more than a million spectators this season, at matches in the Light- although the season began with a tie (1-1) before the Maritimo.

After Quique Flores departure, Benfica responsibles acted for hiring Jesus for two seasons and another of option, but didn't stop there.
Giving further investment from recent times, tended to strengthen the squad with players of high ability, and whose importance has proved crucial to the success in championship and, earlier, in the League Cup.

Moreover, the success of Benfica went through Cardozo's scoring explosion, whose duel with Falcon, for the top scorer title served as a parallelattractive; the defensive cohesion (offensive side defenders, very secure central defenders, -with relief for the claim of David Luiz class), and the tendency of breaking forward midfield .

In the year of World Cup, Di María had exceptional performances, Aimar spread imagination and notable passes, as the newcomers Javi García, Saviola and Ramires simplified the defensive and attacking processes.

But neither lacked controversy in 2009/10 Liga - from the confusion in the Braga tunnel, until the classical in Light with FC Porto, that led to Hulk punishment(and Sapunaru) for months... Reduced the punishment by the Council of Justice, Fc Porto complained.
In the field, however, Benfica was superior to their rivals.
